The Great Reset: The Time Is Now!

By | October 27, 2020

Well, this is it! It’s the “Great Reset” people all around the world have been asking for. The question now is what you are doing about it.

For the longest time, all I ever heard people complain about (especially on social media) was how they wished the world would stop for awhile, just long enough for them to catch up. Well, there you go! While it’s not entirely stopped yet, large sections of the world economy have come to a grinding halt like never before in human history.

To pause anything else would cripple critical infrastructure and risk mass starvation on a scale never seen before. So, I’m afraid this is as good as it gets, in terms of a pause. My question to everyone now is what they plan to do with themselves during this global freeze.

Look, I’m not writing this to take away from the large number of deaths that have come to pass since COVID-19 has reared its ugly head. Some of you reading this may have already lost someone to it and for that I express my deepest sympathies. What I’m addressing here is that crowd of people who always puts off what they should already be doing, in order to get their lives in order, at some distant point in the future.

Well, here it is! That time is NOW and the desire for the world to slow down just long enough for you to catch up has come at a TREMENDOUS cost (which is why you should be careful what you wish for). Now what are you going to do with it???

If you’re sitting at home with your heads in your hands, I can tell you already that you’re doing it wrong. Yes, you bet it’s a blow to the psyche of virtually everyone on the planet, but this is no time to allow it to get the best of you. If you do, I can assure you that you’re going to come out of this fatter and lazier than you went into it and if you think you’re going to make a go of your home-based business that way, you’ve got another thing coming!

It takes WORK to run any type of small business and unless your business has grinded to a complete and total stop, as in with NO way to crank out even another dollar, then there is still work to do. In fact, it might be more important now than ever before, in the life of your business. Even brick and mortar businesses are finding new and creative ways to stay afloat and continue serving their customers.

For example, there’s this little Mexican restaurant here in my city that I used to frequent more when I still lived on that side of town. In fact, when I was in high school (some 30 years ago), I used to eat lunch there all the time and I loved every minute of it. I have wonderful memories of that place and their delicious food and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they’re still very much in business, albeit offering curbside service and free delivery (within a certain radius).

They’ve put specials together and begun offering packages, such as 30 enchiladas or tacos for $25, with rice and beans available in family sized containers. That was a perfect response to current events, seeing as how they operated in a very small building where their seating capacity couldn’t have been more than 30. I would go so far as to say that they might actually be doing better under this business model than they were just a few months ago, operating as they had for decades.

If anything, I think it was easier for them to pull this off than it would be for a larger business, due to the fact that the small roof over their heads isnt’ nearly as expensive. Their business model now resembles something closer to a small pizza delivery place with multiple delivery drivers and no seating. They never delivered before, but they weren’t afraid to try something new, even if it meant they were going to stumble through it for a few weeks, until they got into the swing of things.

This brings me to a important point for those of us who are running online home-based businesses. I know that as for myself, I have very little overhead to concern myself with, compared to a brick-and-mortar restaurant. If they can find a way to continue operating during these trying times, then you can bet your bottom dollar that I will do the same!

If you’re running websites, writing e-books, or selling content in any form (articles, pictures, videos, etc…), it’s important to remember that there are a lot of people sitting at home right now with nothing better to do than consume what you’re capable of creating. Do you have something to sell? There are lots of people spending money on Amazon right now and if you have anything they want, you should be seizing on this opportunity to catch them while they’re at home and in most need of your services.

But is this ethical, you might ask? At some point, we all wrestle with this question, but consider that someone has to offer what you have and that person who needs it will gladly pay for it. Just remember to keep your prices FAIR and don’t take advantage of the customer base that you need to keep your business running. An additional point I like to make is that this virus has robbed us all in one way or another, so you might as well get something back for what it’s taken from you. Use these circumstances in whatever honest way you can and turn those lemons into lemonade!

Think of this as business-as-usual, except with a spike, due to current events. Look, I would GLADLY buy something from any of you, if you had something I needed. And I strongly doubt that you would expect to get it for free, any more than I would, unless it was attached to another offer or intended to help promote other products.

   And remember to think creatively!

Another bit of advice I would offer is to spend any free time you do have working to improve your health and fitness. Get into shape, for God’s sake! If you’ve been putting it off, NOW is the time to make it happen. There are no bars to go to right now, unless you’ve turned your home into one, and there are no crowds around you to twist your arm into making poor decisions. Get both your mind and body in order so you can not only survive the Great Reset, but THRIVE coming out the other side.

Think about it, for a minute… If it has to come at such a great cost, you’d BETTER make sure you get something out of it. Don’t squander this opportunity to fix EVERYTHING in your life that needs fixing!

It’s up to YOU to emerge from this BIGGER, BADDER, AND BETTER!

   Take care and be safe…

Wow, this little post you wrote with all the words you fixed together in it serves as a big motivation to me right now. I am so motivated to use this period to my own advantage just like that small food store. I have not really being doing much since this started but it is true, the world is slowing down and it is not right that I slow down too. I have to catch up with a lot of things and that is just exactly what I am going to do. Thank you so much for this.

yes! I 5otally agree with you that this period is a period of reset and to reawaken everything dead in us so that we can come out bigger and stronger after this lockdown. It was not easy before and it is still not easy till now. This is really a great post here and thank you so much for sharing out here. Thumbs up to you and it really calls for a good time to think about what matters

Wow, this is just what many people would need to keep themselves going regardless of the current situation of the world that seems to be pulling so many people down. This is the time where most people have been human enough to show care for others and some people have used it to get closer to God and their family. Making the most of the situation should be all we have in mind right now and not complain anymore.

No doubt this article is so motivated that we can  use this period to our own advantage. But considering those that got retrenched and unemployed at this period of time, I don’t think they have any motivation to think further or do anything that can “motivate” them. Being retrenched already slashed away all their motivation. How long this crisis will last, nobody knows. Everyday we have to pay and pay… utilities bill, telephone bills, house rental/mortgage loans, groceries, etc…..

That certainly is true. However, the worst thing anyone can do is give up. If you look hard enough, you can find silver linings just about anywhere. It’s more a matter of how bad you want to get through it, because if you’re determined enough, you’ll push with a ferocity that others won’t. That’s the mindset I’m trying to familiarize people with, so they can be aware of the possibilities. Thanks for stopping by!

It is true, a lot of really wish that the world would stop for a while so that we can try as much as possible to catch up with a number of things when the truth remains that we can only catch up when we do something. Make a move and rise to action. We have come to a time when things are really hard and the best thing to do in times like this is just do something to change the way we are right now. This post is worth sharing. Nice job.

Wow, amazing post!  This is exactly what I needed to read.  You are absolutely right.  Time is now.  I never had enough time to start something online.  I will use this pause to reorganize my future with the present time.  Thinking outside of the box.  Do you have anything, with your online expertise that you could recommend?

Thanks, Carole! I’m partial to blogging and affiliate marketing, myself. Wealthy Affiliate has a great program where you can learn how affiliate marketing works and how to incorporate it into a blogging platform. There are lots more people at home right now who have more time than ever before to browse the Internet, which means more web traffic for website owners, and consequently, more income potential. There really is no time like the present to get into something of this nature.

Hello there I just commend you for taking out time to really address people on this issue. It’s sad that it had to take us a disease for us to realize how to actually take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way.  Regardless of the fact that we are still battling this pandemic we should not fail to look into ourselves and make every decision count.

I would say your words are truly great enough to really reset us. Its a fact that the ravaging pandemic has kept people in positions they list expected and this has led to a high stand of depression in some people and greater opportunity for others. This period is a period of reset and to reawaken everything dead in us so that we can come out bigger and stronger after this lockdown. It was not easy before and it is still not easy till now so we should work to spice up our lives regardless of the pandemic.

Adapting to change is hard. New things can be scary. You’re right about saying we complain about not having enough time. Managing an online business is not easy when you have a full-time job and a family.

I’ve been trying to learn new things such by reading articles and watching tutorials. Right now, I’m investigating how to create an ecourse. It looks a little bit complicated, but we will see.

    Thanks for sharing.

You’ll get it, my friend. Just hang in there and keep researching. Sometimes you have to hear the same thing explained by two or three different people before one of them makes sense in a way that you can relate to. Best wishes on your entrepreneurial ventures!

Hi Mark. This us probably the best advice for everyone and anyone who is such trauma now. It is important to note that your clock is ticking. Like you said “There is no better time than now to start working on those things you have always wanted time to do” procrastination is a lazy man apology.

    thanks for sharing this article.

To start the day with such an article for me is a wonderful and especially motivational thing.
The difficult period we go through, the psychic, emotional trials that sometimes put us down, are erased with these motivational and hopeful words. If you don’t mine i would like to share this post on my social media account. I feel like all my friends want to read this and I want to pass on my condition to them. Good luck !

For anyone who is their own boss- this is surely time to get your act together and figure out what you want. I do think it is wise to step back, take a deep breath, get a pad and pencil, get somewhere quiet and away from others.  Do some serious thinking about where you are headed, how it is working for you, and make whatever adjustment better fit today, and move forward.  This needs to be done along the way anyhow, even when things are not in pandemic mode.

Use this time to work smarter, not harder.  Stay focused.  Maybe time to start using one of the self-measuring tools that we can use, even just a daily log.  Make your time count.  As you adjust to what reality is now, think about how to use your time more wisely.  Maybe you are one who needs to spend more time with family or working out.  Make some new goals. Use this time and be excited when Sept rolls around and you have accomplished some of your goals.  Thanks for your reminder about not wasting this time.Sami
